halfway to happy: home edition

I spent an incredible amount of time this past week, during my spring break, cleaning, organizing and obsessing over the details in my home. I’m so excited for summer, for a chance to really think about the different design and organization in our apartment, and think of ways to brighten the space up without going too feminine (and overwhelming WC). I’m so excited about the inspiration I’ve found all over the internet… this humpday’s inspiration for halfway to happy :)

color me happy

“Well, color me happy — there’s a sofa in here for two!” – Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman

That’s almost how I felt when I found these fantastic brightly-colored pepper prints (and asparagus prints, kitchen utensil prints, and bounties of prints of other vegetables) at this adorable etsy shop.

Genius. WC and I love catching innovative business ideas that make us say, “Duh!” [Usually it’s accompanied with a pang of jealousy and “Why didn’t we think of that?”] That’s how I felt when I walked into Sephora the other day and saw their new collaboration with Pantone. Since “tangerine tango” lips, blush or eyeshadow aren’t for the faint-of-heart, I walked away with their nail enamel set.

Speaking of the color of year, have you seen the tangerine KitchenAid mixer? It almost makes me want to rethink my kitchen color scheme.

brighten up, part 2

This amazing neon striped shirt has been popping up all over the blogosphere, but I think if I buy another piece of bright or neon clothing this season, my coworkers will seriously get the wrong impression about me. I blame it on the dreary mood I’ve had with this sinus infection I’ve had for the entire month of February, but my closet is now singing the praises of this season’s neon colors, with exciting additions from some unexpected places (even classically conservative Ann Taylor has gone neon!).

1. Ann Taylor’s newest accessories include adorable cap-toed shoes and bright belts. 2. I love this Ruche sorbet-colored necklace with chambray button-downs or white tees [no longer available]. 3. I plan to wear J.Crew’s bright tees with everything, from lace to denim. 4. I love these chinos; a twist on bright-colored denim you can wear to work. 5. I can’t wait to wear this Old Navy maxi skirt with turquoise and gold this spring.

Finally! I may be late to the party on this one, but I’m happy to say the Essie Spring 2012 collection is finally on sale online at Essie’s website and Nordstrom. I’ve been lusting over these colors since they first premiered on the blogosphere, and I cannot wait to try their springy green (Navigate Her, top left) and bright orange (Orange, It’s Obvious, bottom right).

Also available now is their “Go Overboard” collection, featuring this cool turquoise-y blue. Spring is in the air (even if D.C. is supposed to get flurries today).
