falling in love: bows and layers

I fell in love twice at Anthropologie today — the first with this fabulous bow dress, and the second with four layers of fabulous in this necklace. While I’m waiting for Anthro to have a sale, I styled my imaginary new dress — with Forever 21 peep-toe flats and Gap’s two-tone canvas clutch.

I’ve wanted a striped dress since this post, and the bows are TDF on this one.

to picnic

My fabulous friend Katie, inspired by this Cup of Jo post, started a summer picnic club around the DC area.  How fabulous would this Chambray tote be to bring along with a bottle of Sarah’s Patio Red?

TO ENJOY: etsy prints I love

When C and I brought in our new bedroom set, we moved out one old Ikea wardrobe and one tall bookshelf, leaving us with lots of new wall space, even with our new set all moved in. to curate

I’ve been a fan of gallery walls since my first dorm freshman year (unless you count arranging kodaks and polaroids with movie tickets and concert stubs artistically on my teenage walls with scotch tape, in which case I was a fan much sooner). I think that the perfect gallery wall comes together after months or years of finding things that excite and charm you from vacations, day trips, flea markets and random shops, but then again, I’m the most impatient person I have ever met. Here’s what I’m thinking so far… Continue reading

to want: blue lace

Maybe it’s my fascination with the Bachelorette (and Emily’s fabulous date and cocktail dresses), but I’ve found this blue DVF dress (that Kelly Ripa wore on Live on Thursday) and want it badly. My favorite part is the exposed zipper on the back.

Since I have no Bachelor-style cocktail parties in the near future, I’m wondering if I could justify wearing it to a summer wedding or cocktail reception on the Hill? I try not to buy fancy dresses without having two events in mind in which to wear them :)

TO DO: (in Capitol Hill, part 2)

Sunday I met my friend Katie in Capitol Hill for brunch and shopping. I had an amazing seafood omelet (with crabmeat! yum!) at the Chesapeake Room before heading over to Eastern Market (where we scoured the jewelry counters for hanging earrings and simple bracelets). We stopped into Metro Mutts where I got adorable faux peanut butter cups for Teddy R (with yogurt in place of chocolate), and I even stopped at a little entrepeneur’s lemonade stand.
